It strikes me that the folks that condemned the response in Baltimore to Freddie Gray’s death as uncivilized (among other things) are many of the same folks who now condemn the peaceful protests at Mizzou as an affront to free speech.
So if “rioting’ is off the table and peaceful protests are off the table… how should Black folks make their grievances with racist institutions known?
Note: This is not a rhetorical question. Seriously. If you think both of those approaches are inherently illegitimate, what alternative do you propose?
